Ready for January

So these past few days have been about getting prepared for the year ahead. So far I’ve completed one run of 8.7km (5.4ml) without pain. This is pretty good as I’ve been recovering from a painful ITB muscle injury. So I’m pretty delighted about that.

Have also managed to buy a new weighing scales that records BMI, body fat, body water and muscle mass. None of the measurements from the first step on the scale surprised me, except possibly for body water which was 53%. Three litres of water later and it might be a better score. Official measurements start tomorrow however.

Finally, I have my weeks training planned out which is a mix of strength training and running sessions. The exact nature of Saturdays long run has to be decided but 3 * 1km hill interval running  is really calling out to me.

From Fat to Flat

So each New Year will bring with it all sorts of challenges and 2016 will be no different. This blog is to see if I can rise to these challenges.

I’m an ordinary 47 year old guy from Ireland looking to loose 3 stone in weight and to completing my first full marathon before the end of 2016.

I’ll update on my progress, my highs and lows, successes and failures and see where I am when the year is over.
